Railroads...True Railroaders don't run the RR (company) any more.
Hello there again Mr Franklyn :O)
What a pleasure to hear from you again before I head off to bed. Since you mentioned your working with wood floors and designs, I couldn't help but notice the wood floor construstion/design on the stage for the CMT awards that my wife watched this p.m. It was a rerun of the original, but since talking to you, I noticed it for the first time. Don't know if you watch the CMT awards, but if so, maybe you saw what I'm talking about(?).
I envy ppl like you sir. You have a brain and a tallant for things that'll make you money. Some ppl more money than others. Myself, I only wish that I knew enough to make a lil extra to suppliment our income. We're hit heavily with medical bills for my wife, and therefore the r.r. income gets streached sometimes. I wish you well sir, with your web page business and hope it grows in to something that you're really really proud of :O) God bless you...
I started railroading on the old SLSF RR (Frisco) in Springfield, MO back in '74 when I was 20 yrs old. 2 1/2 yrs later, after being cut off all the time in MO, my wife and I migrated out to N.W. NE where I hired on with the then BN RR. I later became and engineer with them and in time, found myself now in N.W. TX. It's a good job and I love what I do (running the trains)... I just cain't stand the co. as it is now. True Railroaders don't run the RR (company) any more. It's all run by college edgecuated ppl who know NOTHING about RRing, but all about the "bottom line", and the HELL with the ppl who keep it going (TY&E=train, yrd,& engn). We're just so much cannon fodder to them and if we don't like it, there's pleanty of kids out there waiting to take our jobs, at less wages. Again, the bottom line!
I'm 52 1/2 yrs old now, so I've got 7 1/2 yrs left until I can get outa here!!! (Lord willing) I'll have my time in (30 yrs) this coming Nov... but still have to make age 60 fore I can pull out with FULL retirement. I'm sure your brother can tell you a lil about that (lol), if he hasn't already(?). ;o)
As for my computer knowledge... it's pretty pathetic (lol), by my opinion. I know how to turn the thing on/off, and seem to have it down pretty pat on how to get it messed up so that I have to have it reformatted from time to time. And no, I'm not the type to go to the typical virus plagued pages like the porno pgs. My love (and often prblm areas?) is the music share ware of Lime Wire and Kazaa. I love my "oldies" music and have managed to collect over 4000 songs and music vidios since I started playing with puters 9 yrs ago. So, I'm still a "grade-schooler" (2nd-3rd grd?) in knowledge, when it comes to these electronic beasts! Thus, another reason I envy you sir... your knowledge to be able to navigate around 'em and make 'em work for you :O)
Take care, looking fwd to talking to you again soon. I'm off in the morning to take my tri-ennieal(?) book of rules tests for the RR and run the mini-sim for them, to show them that I still know how to run a train safely and by their ever daily changing rules.
Sincerely yours: Robert
